Missouri, Springfield, 65801 Springfield USAAccounting Analyst I or II (Treasury) - ( 24000188 )DescriptionPURPOSE OF POSITION:Under the direction of the Manager – Treasury Operations, responsible for a variety of treasury functions of the Utility.Accounting Analyst I (Treasury)May include economic research, cash forecast entry, bank fees entry, credit card fees entry, compliance compilation, monthly and adjusting journal entries, daily cash reporting, assisting with investment purchases, contributing to budget preparation, participation in RFP process, ongoing treasury education and more. Also serves as backup for Financial Analyst (Treasury), and Accounting Analyst II (Treasury) and Supervisor-Payroll.Accounting Analyst II (Treasury)May include economic research, hedge and investment accounting research, cash forecast building and analysis, bank fees analysis, credit card fees analysis, compliance compilation, monthly and adjusting journal entries, daily cash review and reporting, conducting investment purchases, responsible for budget preparation, contribution to RFP process, proactive and ongoing treasury education, presenting various recommendations to Manager and more. Serves as a backup for Manager-Treasury Operations and Supervisor-Payroll. Learns all duties of the Financial Analyst (Treasury). Learns all duties of the Accounting Analyst I (Treasury) to present recommendations to Manager for process improvements.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Accounting Analyst I (Treasury)
Responsible for working with the Manager-Treasury Operations on treasury or accounting related matters.
Prepares cash balances and activity daily.
Enters bank fees and credit card fees data.
Participates in RFP preparation.
Enters cash forecast data.
Initiates wires, ACH’s and transfers via online banking.
Assists with investment transactions with oversight from Manager.
Prepares journal entries and statistics for month-end closings.
Assists with compliance compilation.
Prepares debt schedules and payments with assistance from Manager.
Participates in ongoing treasury and accounting education and training.
Participates in cross-training opportunities as an instructor and as a student.
Prepares/updates documentation that complies with current standards of the Finance Department.
Effectively communicates with all internal and external business contacts. Communication is expected to flow up and down to ensure productive outcomes.
Actively supports Finance goals, processes and standards.
Provides backup for the Accounting Analyst II (Treasury) and Financial Analyst (Treasury).
Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.
Accounting Analyst II (Treasury)In addition to the Accounting Analyst I (Treasury), an Accounting Analyst II (Treasury) has increased ownership in the tasks and responsibilities listed above. The following will be expected of the Accounting Analyst II (Treasury)
Conducts economic research and compiles information as needed.
Updates, analyzes and makes improvements to the cash forecast.
Considers impact to bank account balances and presents recommendations for cash movement to Manager.
Researches hedge accounting and investment accounting as needed.
Responsible for budget preparation.
Provides backup for the Manager-Treasury Operations and Supervisor-Payroll.
Learns daily, monthly and annual Financial Analyst (Treasury) duties.
Learns daily, monthly, and annual Accounting Analyst I (Treasury) duties and presents recommendations to Manager for process improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or related field is required. MBA or related Master’s degree is preferred. Experience with online commercial banking applications is highly preferred. Utility experience preferred.Accounting Analyst I (Treasury)
Three years’ recent progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting or a related field is required.
Treasury Operations experience is highly preferred.
Accounting Analyst II (Treasury)
Five years’ recent progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required.
Minimum of two years’ experience in Treasury Operations is required.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial software and Workday is preferred.
Licensing/Certification:CPA or CMA strongly preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Accounting Analyst I (Treasury)
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial software and Workday.

Accounting Analyst II (Treasury)In addition to the Accounting Analyst I (Treasury), the following will be expected of the Accounting Analyst II (Treasury)
Working knowledge of:
o Treasury practices, including liquidity management, cash forecasting, debt issuance, securities purchases and related accounting, payment systems, etc.o Financial theory, practices and automated financial systems.o Problems and practices applicable to the functions of accounting.Physical Requirements:Typically, sedentary work. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Bending and stooping may be required for filing and file retrieval.Working Conditions:Duties are primarily performed in an office environment.Miscellaneous Requirements:
