Position Summary The Assistant Divisional Finance Director supervises finance department personnel, ensures financial statements and reports are timely and accurate, and maintains internal controls. Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Oversee and assist with the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and other reporting; ensure GAAP compliance (45%). Ensure financial compliance of grants and contracts (25%). Counsel departments/locations and staff with respect to financial and compliance matters (20%). Ensure internal controls and guidelines are effective and functioning (5%). Review and verify the accuracy and timeliness of tax and other filings (5%). Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. Five years of accounting experience in non-profit accounting required. CPA/CMA preferred. Valid driver's license, meet MVR driver's qualifications, and pass background checks. Competencies Willing to support the philosophy, goals, and mission of The Salvation Army. Extensive knowledge of accounting, budgeting, grant compliance, and financial reporting. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Excellent management and supervisory skills. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence. Working Conditions Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds at a time. Competency with PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe, General Ledgers, and standard office equipment required. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, and work in person or on the phone for reasonable periods. Professional environment; eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide supervision, mentorship, and training to assigned finance department personnel.
