We are hiring one person to support one individual.

Week 1: (approx. 12 hrs)

Sun, Mon: 4:15p-10:15p

Week 2: (approx. 18 hrs)

Sun, Mon,Wed: 4:15p-10:15p

Searching for a passionate individual to mentor, engage with, and challenge an able-bodied and active 26-year-old gay man as he brings his already successful life to further independence and stronger community involvement. Support is needed due to a brain-based disability and history of trauma.

He and his cat live in Uptown on the 4th floor of a beautiful condo with NO ELEVATOR. You must be able to walk up and down several flights of stairs and not be allergic or opposed to cats. This young man is very smart and enjoys math, science and creating/analyzing spreadsheets. You must be comfortable with extracting data from a spreadsheet and formatting it to create a weekly progress report.

The client has a great job in Bloomington and needs to be picked up at 5:30 on Weds and Thurs so you must have a reliable vehicle. He enjoys the outdoors, wants to become more integrated into the LGBTQ community, and improve his relational skills. Exercise, including going to the gym, cooking and healthy eating are important aspects of his life.

Your unique contributions, ideas, and high emotional maturity/intelligence will continue to drive his success. Part of your role will include collaborating to meal plan, meal prep and grocery shop for healthy food. It is essential that you encourage, engage and provide educational opportunities when needed in these activities.

Daily activities may include transportation in your vehicle from his home to work/medical appointments/activities/etc., administering medication, collaboratively planning and scheduling activities, attending and engaging in his social activities, organizing and cleaning his apartment, encouraging and participating in exercise, meal planning and grocery shopping, etc. Officially, you will help to support his independent living and social skill development, health maintenance, personal care, and behavioral development in accordance with his Community Support Plan.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required:

This position requires you to possess an optimistic and confident personality, a

knack for organization and budgeting, and the ability to be encouraging yet firm.

You must desire to fully engage with this vibrant gay man as he strives to live an

independent and integrated life.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. College experience is beneficial.

Knowledge, understanding, and/or experience with disability, autism, FASD is

welcomed.

Emotional Maturity:

Must be LGBTQ-friendly, patient, intellectually curious, able and willing to set

positive limits.

Individual must be responsible and dependable.

Ideal candidate will be energetic, and enthusiastic to attend social outings.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required:

Valid driver’s license in good standing. Car registration and vehicle insurance as

candidate will be providing transportation for individual receiving services.
