Description The Robert Half Healthcare Practice is actively searching for a talented and self-motivated Administrative Coordinator to support the HIM team with a client in the Bloomington area.

Performs specific functions in areas such as release of PHI requests (internal/external), coordination of compliance-exchange such as pediatric therapy treatment plan exchange with external health care providers, coordinating and documenting legal changes in the record, or performing other HIM-related tasks that impact HIM/clinical services in a supportive manner.

Proactively analyzes incoming/outgoing documentation to ensure compliance requirements are met.

Responds to inbound/outbound documentation requests in a timely manner, and provides input to identify any potential issues, including legal ramifications.

Ensures the accuracy and quality of information release requests through analysis prior to release.

Ensures compliance for necessary documentation requirements; including chart audit, outside referral source signatures as appropriate, and tracks and follows up accordingly to confirm there are valid, signed documents in the electronic health record (EHR).

Retrieves electronic documentation from electronic health record upon request.

Participates in specific cross training to optimize daily operations and to meet the needs of the organization. This may include advanced training to perform additional functions within HIM such as:

 Follow up with clients/guardians for necessary authorizations on chart documents (annual consents, treatment planning, release of information). Coordinate requests for archived records, and other information to internal and external clinicians and medical providers. May be responsible for additional duties, such as triaging telephone calls, responding to questions, etc.

Acts as a primary resource related to Health Information requests and collaborates with clinicians to support client needs.

Follows HIPAA regulations and all applicable state and federal laws.

Assists in other HIM functions, such as mail triage, scanning and electronically attaching records as job functions permit.

May provide more in-depth chart analysis as requested.

Assists in orienting new staff as assigned.

Provides input to optimize daily operations to meet the needs of the organization

Participates in cross training, as requested to optimize daily operations and to meet the needs of the organization.

Participates in continuous quality improvement programs and organization-wide activities promoting health information and privacy and security education.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED

1-2 years of experience in administrative work in office settings

Experience in Health Information Management or related field preferred.

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management practices.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
