The primary work location will either be Moose Lake or St. Peter depending upon the candidate's location.Serving as a consultant and a collaborator with other treatment disciplines, the Registered Nurse Educator and Infection Preventionist will provide leadership within the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) health services by coordinating nursing orientation, developing and validating competencies, critically looking at nursing practice and serving as a role model for excellent nursing care.Primary Responsibilities:
Provides highly specialized work to ensure timely and appropriate management of infection control issues
Institutes measures in responses to emergent infection control issues
Development and oversight of facility infection control programs that are specific to individual facilities and the populations they serve
Developing risk reduction measures to prevent the transmission of infections between clients, visitors, and staff of the programs served
Develops and oversees infection control training and training material for the education of staff in important infection control topics and routine infection control practices to prevent transmission of infectious diseases and ensure a sanitary environment
Assures that infection control programs, and their implementation, adhere to infection control practice standards, including those identified in Minnesota Statute, MN Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA), MN Department of Health (MDH), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and any other regulatory authorities providing oversight and input to programs
Minimum QualificationsAssociate of Nursing Degree ORBachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in nursing or ability to obtain within 6 monthsANDCertification in Infection Prevention and Control or ability to obtain within 2 yearsPreferred Qualifications
