RSI has been working in communities in Minnesota since 1978 in home and community-based settings for people living with disabilities and mental illness, providing a range of services catered for individuals of all ages, identities, and abilities. We believe that all people, regardless of their disability, can live successfully in a community-based setting given the proper supports.

Residential Services, Inc. (RSI) is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance duties for RSI buildings and grounds in Duluth. Scheduling requirements will include Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with occasional paid call-in shifts during night and weekend hours. Some travel to Brookston and Carlton is required.

Salary: $19.00-$19.50 per hour

Essential Functions:

-Independently perform preventative maintenance for RSI programs, including:

-Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with facility maintenance procedures, local, state, and federal codes

-Keep sidewalks/driveways clean, swept, shoveled, and clear of obstructions

-Ensure proper removal of debris from building and grounds

-Perform landscaping duties such as mowing, raking, trimming, and watering

-Carry out routine maintenance for the buildings and grounds

-Arrange for contract program repairs with approved area vendors

-Serve as a contact for local area contract vendors

-Refurbish living areas for the new residents (paint, repair holes in walls, etc.)

-Repair or replace broken fixtures

-Perform routine building maintenance as directed (painting, floor care, cleaning, fixture replacement, caulking, etc.)

-Perform tasks related to resident needs and functions

-Assist with in-house resident moves

-Fleet vehicle maintenance

-Schedule preventative maintenance for program vehicles

-Arrange for company vehicle repairs with approved area vendors

-Other duties assigned

Requirements:

A successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, AC, boilers, and electrical systems. Plumbing repairs and troubleshooting skills to include copper and PVC pipe repair and replacement are necessary, as well as experience in assisting with Capital Improvement Projects. Should be able to receive work orders from a computer. Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Requirements Continued:

-Past experience working independently with little or no supervision preferred. High school education or GED required. All candidates must have a valid driver's license, meet company motor vehicle operator criteria, and successfully complete a background check.

Preferred Experience:

1 - 2 yrs. hotel, hospital, or assisted living facility maintenance experience

Physical and Mental Requirements:

-Ability to lift, push or pull up to 80 lbs., using proper body mechanics and/ or available equipment

-Ability to bend, kneel or climb ladders to perform maintenance tasks

-Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
