Job DescriptionHybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be on-site an average of three (3) days each week.The RoleThe Advanced Vehicle Industrial Engineering (AVIE) Group supports future vehicle programs in the early stages of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP). In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Develop Base Engineered Content (BEC) Status, Headcount & Hours per Vehicle Estimates (includes generation & tracking of ideas for improving).

Evaluate early program information & compile data to support a collaborative BEC target setting process.

Perform Labor Studies for various what-if scenarios being studied (make vs buy, design alternatives, etc). Provide input into each Center's Plant Layout development (influence lean layouts).

Execute Homeroom IE RASI responsibilities by effectively engaging IEs in other GM global regions.

​Drive BEC Reduction & Design for Assembly Workshop Processes

Leverage lessons learned and analyze Program BOM row content to identify high quality ideas to optimize designs for Assembly, including BEC.

Lead GMNA workshops & actively participate in those lead by the other GM regions (requires occasional non-standard work hours).

Maintain a high level of customer responsiveness related to study completion & data reporting requirements. On time with quality.

Work effectively with global, organizationally diverse, teams (e.g. Manufacturing & Product Engineering, Finance, Labor & Manufacturing Operations etc.).

Be able to "Think Outside of the Box" to develop solutions to complex problems that are often bounded by limited information and definition.

Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

5+ years of Vehicle Assembly Industrial Engineering experience (Body, Paint and General Assembly).

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.

Future program launch/execution experience.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Processes and GMS principles and elements

Ability to teach and train others including coaching/facilitation skills.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and learn quickly.

Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours to support global calls and workshops

Proficient level of computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office products, Teamcenter Visualization).

Model behaviors that reflect GM's Global Leadership Framework.

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.

Working knowledge of work measurement techniques (STDS) & the Assembly Processing System (APS).

Indirect Labor/Material IE experience

Team Center - working with product math data.
