Job DescriptionThis is a limited-term position (position has an expiration date)Unemployment insurance decisions and orders of Administrative Law Judges (ALJ) on unemployment insurance appeals may be appealed to the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission (UIAC). The purpose of this position is to provide independent analysis of the record and law, as well as research and opinion drafting. Factual accuracy, legal correctness and procedural propriety are essential to the analysis. Opinion drafting requires the ability to write about legal findings and conclusions in a manner that is readable by litigants of widely varying literacy, as well as unemployment insurance and legal professionals possessed of greater understanding of the unemployment laws and rules of practice. The Administrative Law Specialist (ALS) is regularly called upon to discuss the appeal with Commissioners during the voting process.
