Staff Accountant

You might be a good fit for this Staff Accountant position if you can prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. This role is for someone who wants to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. This Flint, Michigan area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. We're looking for people who are detail-oriented and analytical thinkers with a talent for creating Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.Major responsibilities

Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting

Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions Requirements - Strong analytical capabilities and discernment

Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

High attention to detail

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

Skilled with ERP systems

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

Expertise in Construction Accounting or General Contracting preferred

Solid understanding of Fixed Asset Accounting

QuickBooks experience

2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
