Position Summary

Service as an academic advisor for students majoring and minoring in a range of arts and humanities disciplines. This includes academic program planning, study abroad and away, experiential education including internships and undergraduate research, career development and related topics;?

assist with course enrollment management within CAL departments

participation in the development and implementation of activities/projects related to student success;?

teach 1 section of either AL 101 or AL 250

participation in all New Student Orientation Programs, Colloquium, and associated events;?

degree certification;

familiarity with enrollment and curricular systems, including Campus Solutions and ESAF;

regular engagement with faculty and academic staff in the designated departments & programs, the College of Arts & Letters Dean's Office, the Honors College, and other units on campus;

representation of the relevant departments and programs at various undergraduate recruiting events including coordination of visits of prospective students;

participation in college-wide advisor meetings and professional development activities

Energetic personality and strong work ethic are necessary.

An MA in student affairs. Excellent written, oral, and dynamic presentation/ communication skills are essential.

Strong organizational skills emphasizing long-term planning and implementation are vital to the applicant's success.

Technical skills in word-processing, database management, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and social media composition.

Demonstrated ability to work closely with Academic Advisors and a diverse student population, faculty, and potential employers.

Desired Qualifications

A MFA/PhD in student affairs, higher education, or related field.

Well-prepared candidates will have at least three years of full-time work in advising or student affairs.
