Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.Unit Position SummaryThe School of Packaging at Michigan State University has 3 available positions for research scholars. These roles provide valuable opportunities for candidates seeking advanced training and research in the field of packaging dynamics, covering areas such as multi-axis transportation vibrations and dynamics, shock, stack stability, and cushion response to impact, among others. Responsibilities include:
Undertake, participate in, and contribute to detailed research in packaging dynamics.
Explore new research opportunities.
Lead and train a team of undergraduate and graduate students.
Operate the packaging dynamics lab equipment.
Publish and present research findings in appropriate scholarly journals, national and international forums, and conferences.
Attend weekly meetings and prepare reports.
Desired Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in Packaging, Mechanical, Civil, Material, or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on solid mechanics and/or dynamics/vibrations.
Familiarity with experimental tests in mechanics such as tensile/compression testers, DIC, vibrometers, shaker tables, 3D printers, and accelerometers. Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python programming.
Experience in Finite Element Method (FEM) modeling and analysis, using tools like Abaqus or Ansys.
Familiarity with Machine Learning coding and applications in packaging dynamics or related fields.
Proven track record of published peer-reviewed journal papers.
