Title: Production Supervisor
Location: Romulus, MI
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm (some mandatory overtime on Saturdays)
Compensation: $24.00 to $26.00 per hour
This position is located at a client site. The client is a is a world-leading Tier One and Tier Two automotive supplier of quality products and services. They cater not only to gasoline and diesel engines but also encompass the rapidly evolving domains of electric vehicles (EV) and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. Position Summary:
Coordinate production schedules, train, and support associates, monitor progress, handle payroll and attendance. Ensure safety compliance, oversee equipment maintenance, building repairs, and inventory management. Support audits, awards, and employee recognition. Manage shipping documentation, warehouse operations, and labeling. Assist with trash removal and create packing lists for outbound shipments.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and finalize a comprehensive daily production schedule, ensuring the timely completion of tasks and meeting production quotas.
2. Maintain and regularly update precise work instructions for each station, ensuring clarity and accuracy in the production processes.
3. Coordinate training programs and assign experienced mentors to assist new production associates.
4. Provide oversight, coaching, and support to enhance the performance of production associates.
5. Generate a daily completion log to track production progress and evaluate the effectiveness of department activities. Conduct daily inventories of repacked parts and empty dunnage.
6. Effectively communicate job expectations, plans, monitoring procedures, policies, and procedures to the production team.
7. Collaborate with staffing agencies to recruit new production personnel and conduct comprehensive new hire orientations, including job training and safety protocols.
8. Prepare and provide weekly payroll reports to staffing agencies for seamless payroll processing.
9. Monitor workers' anniversaries and process payroll payments accordingly with staff agencies.
10. Maintain an attendance log and address attendance issues through appropriate disciplinary measures. Promptly notify staffing agencies of any personnel problems that arise.
11. Contribute warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews to meet operational standards.
12. Coordinate the movement of inventory according to established systems and schedules, ensuring smooth warehouse operations.
13. Collaborate closely with the supply chain team to accurately forecast monthly outgoing production schedules.
14. Maintain inventory of all warehouse supplies and consumables. Process purchase requests when necessary.
15. Ensure strict adherence to the company's safety policy among all workers. Conduct regular daily/weekly safety discussions with the production team.
16. Provide assistance with audits when necessary, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
17. Supervise production associates and ensure that they maintain equipment in excellent working condition,
and that they perform building maintenance requests in a timely manner. This involves overseeing the implementation of operating instructions, guiding them through troubleshooting procedures, following up to make sure maintenance and repairs have been completed, and promptly reporting any necessary repairs that need to be scheduled for an outside vendor to complete to the Human Resources Department.
18. Monthly monitoring of the fire extinguishers and eye wash stations. Replenish First-Aid kits when inventory is low.
19. Annually check and verify the functionality of emergency lights.
20. Work closely with the Quality Manager to select "Employee of the Month" and "Special Recognition" awards on a bi-monthly basis. Schedule luncheons and gather lunch orders for employees.
21. Print Picklist for Hilo drivers to ensure adherence to the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principle for inventory management.
22. Schedule the removal of trash dumpsters, cardboard, and wood trailers to be emptied.
23. Serve as backup to creating a shipper from ERMS for GM shipments, ensuring to check with Tab or supply chain team first before proceeding.
24. Send outbound ASN with Edibar software, including GM, Navistar, Linamar, DDC, Teluca.
25. Create a picking list for non-bonded warehouse parts.
26. Print outgoing labels for non-repack pallets and repacked dunnage.
27. Open and close the building according to the rotation schedule.
28. Maintain CPR, EPA RCRA HWM, and OSHA 30 certifications.
Education and Experience:
1. Associate degree and/or three to five years of relevant warehouse experience
2. Automotive Manufacturing / Cylinder Liner experience is preferred.
3. Current EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste Management certification. OSHA 30 Certification.
4. Candidate should have experience working with international clients.
