Our product portfolio includes the first and only exosome-based diagnostic for prostate cancer, the Prostate IntelliScore (EPI) test.As a Manager, Research & Development - Nucleic Acid Test (NAT), you will lead a team of scientists and research associates to advance our discovery platform and develop new capabilities to identify new biomarker and diagnostic signatures in for oncology, immune science, and neurodegenerative diseases. Building upon your deep domain expertise in the application and development of nucleic acid diagnostic assays and other nucleic acid analytical platforms you will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other R&D or business development personnel to bring new and innovative diagnostic products and services to market.What you will do

Lead, coach, and inspire a team of NAT scientists and research associates to advance our discovery capabilities that translate to new and impactful bio-fluids-based diagnostic products and services

Define, develop, and document rigorous nucleic acid analysis workflow/assay development in the forms of requirements, plans, protocols, reports, and records in support of Exosome Diagnostics’ discovery pipeline

Develop new technology and assay format in ultra-sensitive analytical platform for the analysis of nucleic acids in biofluid

Plan, align, and lead the execution of experiments with statistical considerations and proper controls in support of biopharma and academic collaborations

Lead biomarker discovery or verification, and signature development projects through nucleic acid analytical tools alone, or in combination with other types of analytes for robust classifiers in prognostic, diagnostic, and theragnostic applications

Develop and apply rigorous standards and processes to quality control the raw material, intermediate processes, and the entire workflow in nucleic acid analyses and nucleic acid assay development so that valid conclusions could be drawn

Provide key domain expertise in the DNA and RNA assay design, nucleic acid analysis technology choices, emerging nucleic acid analysis tool landscape in interdisciplinary collaborations across R&D within Bio-Techne and with outside collaborators

Effectively communicate scientific topics and project outcomes both internally and externally with superb written and verbal communication skills

Author successful patents, technical reports, and publications

QualificationsWho You Are & What You Bring

PhD or equivalent with at least 4-6 years of industry experience

At least 2-4 years of experience managing a team of scientists or researchers in an industry setting

A natural problem solver with an entrepreneurial mindset coupled with strong technical acumen to effectively advance projects

Strong track record of independence, innovation, and productivity demonstrated through multiple peer-reviewed publications, grants, or patents

Proficient in knowledge of molecular biology tools such as primer probe design tools such as VisualOMP, qPCR, dPCR, open array, nanostring, sample prep platforms of automated benchtop or liquid handling formats, various commercial sample prep kits, robust assay development methodology such as design for six sigma; hands-on experience is a plus

A productive impact on the development of exosome purification from different biofluid samples for different downstream products: RNA, DNA, TNA, protein, whole exosome

A demonstrated track record in successful launch of commercial NAT products is a plus, especially in a regulated environment. Familiarity of design control, quality systems, ISO, GCLP, verification, validation and qualification is also desirable

Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for working in a multi-disciplinary team setting
