In accordance with Cambridge Health Alliance policies and procedures, and APTA guidelines and code of ethics, this employee evaluates and treats patients in outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapy settings. Position is part of team in a teaching environment with a diverse patient caseload. Employee participates in performance improvement program, in-service program and student program. Completes all documentation and administrative duties appropriately. Position will be required to provide coverage at other CHA Rehab Clinics and Hospitals as needed.Summary:Co-Op positions are multitasking positions with functions consistent in both clinical/clerical areas. Employees are expected to perform clerical and clinical aid responsibilities.Rehab-Co-Op responsibilities include: Completes computer registration thoroughly and accurately according to protocol. Prepares charts with appropriate accompanying forms. Handles patient-billing problems effectively. Obtains proper insurance authorization for appointments Compiles daily provider statistics Directs all calls to appropriate staff and contacts providers as needed. Schedules patient appointments on the computer. Notifies patients of schedule/appointment changes in a timely manner. Maintains medical record system allowing for easy tracking of records on site as well as off site. Performs patient set-up and preparation in treatment areas according to provider’s instructions. Cleans equipment according to infection control procedures. Prepares treatment areas, whirlpools, and fluid therapy machines for patient use. Correctly identifies and labels medical records. Routinely stocks and cleans rooms. Keeps work area disinfected by washing surfaces with appropriate disinfectant. Performs therapeutic interventions appropriately according to the supervising therapist and within clinical experience.
