Lasell Village- Line Cook
Massachusetts, Boston, 02108 Boston USAPOSITION SUMMARY: The Line Cook will provide consistent, prompt service of all culinary items served to our residents. Quality customer service is a top priority for everyone at the Village.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all food orders are received and stored according to guidelines
Knowledge of all menu items and dietary needs for residents in independent living, Lasell Studios, or Lasell House
Knowledge of plate presentation and preparation of all menu items (cooking and plating times)
Rotate, label, and date all stock in the refrigerator and freezer to ensure no waste due to spoilage
Communicate with fellow line cooks, executive chef, and sous chef on a daily basis for proper pars and production requirements when needed in specified workstations
Responsible for advising supervisor of shortages and outages
Organize and perform work assignments to meet proper quantities while maintaining quality standards within the necessary time frame
Practice sanitary methods as prescribed by federal and state codes when storing food and paper supplies
Ensure all workstations are being maintained in a clean and organized fashion
Follow HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Points) guidelines when receiving all the incoming orders
Receive incoming food and paper supplies, ensure they are of high quality; refuse any substandard items.
Ensure that the storage areas are kept clean, neat and orderly
Responsible for overseeing the preparation of meals for the dining room, café, Lasell House and Lasell Studios
Responsible for preparation of special functions.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED preferred
ServSafe® certification
3 years of experience

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May need to reach overhead, handle objects, use finger dexterity, talk, hear, see, and feel
May need to move, transport or position objects up to 50 pounds
Continuous moving, standing, climbing, frequent periods requiring sustained uncomfortable physical conditions
May need to ascend/descend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist
May need to work in an environment with noise, vibrations and occasional fumes
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather, post-disaster, etc.)
ls subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as to reactions from air contaminants.
