The Department of Epidemiology is seeking an Assistant Research Administrator (ARA) who will provide financial assistance and research related support for a newly funded P01 grant, as well as provide pre- and post-award support to the Departments Research Administrators (RAs) who manage a portfolio of sponsored and non-sponsored grants for departmental Principal Investigators as assigned. Reporting to the Sr. Research Administrator, the candidate will assist with a variety of activities related to research support and administrative tasks.Responsibilities and duties:

Provide essential financial and administrative management support specific to the P01 grant project, including budget review and development, financial monitoring and expense projections, effort monitoring and reporting, processing travel & expenses for grant related faculty/staff, sub-award management, procurement and invoice management, assist PI's & Project Coordinator with annual progress reports, as well as create and maintain documents outlining procedures and guidelines pertinent to financial and operational management of the grant.

Provide support to the department Research Administrators with all departmental proposal and post-award documents, ensuring compliance with BU policies and procedures, assist with budgets, process subaward disbursements, review/edit/finalize biosketches and other support documents, as well as communicate other support information to co-investigators named on proposals.

Generate and upload monthly financial expense reports, update faculty grant portfolios, file and track grant proposals submitted and awarded, analyze and resolve issues, provide general grant related support to faculty members, and work on special projects as needed.

Assist the Administrative Director with semi-annual Personnel Activity Report (PAR) certification process.

Required SkillsQualifications:

High school diploma, associate's degree preferred

Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience

Previous experience working in an academic environment highly desirable

Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and spoken

Intermediate computer skills that include Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and databases

Desired Qualifications:

Pre/Post award grant transaction work

Willingness to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

Experience with grant language, budgets and timelines

Experience in the Electronic Grants Administration & Management System (EGrAMS)

Skills:

Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, manage competing demands

Ability to identify problems/issues, critically thinking through problems (gather and analyze information skillfully) and presenting potential solutions in a timely manner

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Must be able to successfully collaborate and work in a team environment while also being an individual contributor

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Demonstrated ability of accuracy and thoroughness

Monitor own work to ensure quality

Ability to multi-task, maintain composure and meet deadlines
