Who We Are: Since 1985, BHCHP’s mission has been to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Job Summary: Hours: Full-time; 40 hours per week, Monday -Friday At Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) the Foundation Relations Manager will play a key role in securing philanthropic support from corporate and family foundations. Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Foundation Relations Manager will contribute to prospect research, proposal writing and submission, grant reporting, stewardship, and the tracking and management of relevant data. Responsibilities:

Mastering the fundamentals of foundation giving, prospect research, donor cultivation, and stewardship; regularly updating the donor database to maintain accurate and comprehensive records of donor and prospect interactions and track grant deadlines and milestones.

Developing an understanding of BHCHP’s scope of services and remaining informed and updated about programmatic priorities and goals.

Communicating with program staff to gather data, program information, and patient stories to support foundation relations activities.

Collecting and organizing information about prospective foundation funders, including giving histories, trustee information, and proposal deadlines, and identifying areas of alignment with BHCHP’s mission; performing outreach to prospective funders, leading program tours, and maintaining relationships with potential and existing funders.

Assisting with the development and implementation of stewardship strategies to engage active and lapsed foundation funders.

Working closely with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, drafting and editing written materials, including concept papers, grant proposals and applications, reports, and acknowledgement letters; supporting Development Team events and activities.

Assisting with the management of foundation grants, assuring that funds are allocated appropriately and troubleshooting with program staff.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; 4-6years of development or relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years of grant writing and management experience.

Superior verbal and written communication skills; excellent problem solving and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.

Strongly detailed oriented, high level of accuracy, and good prioritization skills including the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with constituents, hospital staff, and patients in a professional and courteous manner; the ability to work well as part of a team and function. with minimal supervision; a high regard for confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with donors, patients, and program staff.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raiser’s Edge.

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation starts at $77,400 annually and increases based on years of experience.

BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred dollars added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
