Position Title: Operations Engineering East InternWho We Are:Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Operations Engineering (OpsEng) provides premier engineering and manufacturing support expertise to enable on-time, lowest cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations.OpsEng executes across all phases of a Program including proposal capture, process development, transition to production, and production support.Operations Engineering's engagement with RMD products is not just limited to RMD manufacturing sites.We support our large supplier network and international builds with deployment of engineers.These engineers help to resolve supplier issues before they come into RMD factories; as well as helping to integrate Major End Items (MEIs) at domestic and international sites.Job Description: Operations Engineering Intern.This is a 3 month, full-time internship position starting in May 2021 and ending in August 2021.Within the Operations Engineering East Directorate, there are five defined roles available for the Summer 2021 internship:Manufacturing Engineer (production floor support)

Test Engineer (Production floor support)

Tooling and Calibration Lab (Test Equipment Maintenance and Repair Department (TEMR))

Engineering Hotline

Industrial Engineer (space and facilities planning/mapping)

To learn more about each role and its respective responsibilities, a synopsis of each has been provided:Manufacturing Engineers supporting the production floor develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They analyze product specifications to determine appropriate designs and processes that support these customer requirements. You would apply your skills to develop, test, modify, and create solutions through a collaborative effort with various teams.As a manufacturing engineer supporting the production floor, you have the opportunity to be in the middle of the action, working problems hands on alongside the operators, engineers, and other support staff with an end goal of keeping the production floor moving through innovative solutions to everyday problems.Test Engineers supporting the production floor develop and improve test processes and procedures by studying products, failure analytics, and First Pass Yield (FPY) data.They review test specifications to determine the appropriate testing parameters, settings, and software to perform and support the customer requirements.You would apply your skills to aid the testing of production units and assist with trouble shooting, failure analysis, test procedure development/updates, and root cause analysis.Tooling and Calibration Lab interns would work within the Test Equipment Maintenance and Repair Department (TEMR) supporting all Calibration functions within the TEMR Department.You will work for the TEMR Calibration Labs Manager performing a wide variety of task to include but not limited to: Assisting in implementing a new Inventory Management System, working with TEMR Requisitioners in placing Purchase Reqs, following up on scheduled Calibration Services, assisting Section Manager with Financial Metrics and overall Floor Support activities. The TEMR Calibration Laboratories support multiple RMD Northeast facilities in New England and the Southeast.Engineering Hotline (EHL) engineers support all specifications that define product requirements across the Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) business.The EHL team primarily with RMD's supplier base to safely resolve design issues to get the quality parts we need on time.Hotline Engineers get to collaborate with a wide scope of disciplines including designers, technical leads, and buyers across the country, as well as manufacturing personnel at other companies.Daily work is very paced, challenging, and rewarding.This job is well suited for early engineering professionals to quickly gain a command of overall company roles and responsibilities to assure they excel in future positions.Industrial Engineers (IE) support the Core Engineering department by assisting and performing space and facility planning project management, process simulation, capacity analysis, and utilization studies among other things.The IEs get heavily involved with the Operations leadership as well as the production floor environments to enhance optimization and increase efficiency.Basic Qualifications: Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Project, Word)

US citizenship is required for this position
