We believe that our greatest strength draws on the different backgrounds, cultures, perspectives and experiences of our employees.Job Summary:Westat is seeking research assistants to join our multidisciplinary team of researchers and program evaluators focused on mental health and substance use research and training projects. This role involves project management, communicating with clients, executing study plans, overseeing data collection and analysis, developing environmental scans, and contributing to project reports and publications.This opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement requiring 1 day on-site at our Rockville, MD office.Job Responsibilities:
Support all stages of research from study design through data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
Conduct environmental scans and literature reviews.
Partner with client and subcontractor data collection efforts which may involve administering surveys, interviews, site visits, observation protocols, legislative research, and/or acquiring administrative data.
Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
Assist with producing reports and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in presentations at conferences and other meetings.
Coordinate and lead project management tasks such as taking comprehensive meeting notes, coordinating internal and external meetings, and communicating directly with clients on a supervised basis.
Lead webinars, including coordinating with panelists and clients, developing marketing materials, and managing logistics.
Basic Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health, or a related field and 0-2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience analyzing and interpreting data.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create research-driven and visually engaging content, including reports, tables, graphs, and presentation slides.
Experience with programming for data analysis (such as SAS, SPSS, or R), Zoom webinars, and social media marketing.
Other Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients
Organization skills, including time management ability.
Detail oriented
