Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in your assigned financial areas.
Develop relationships with assigned operating departments and coordinate with stakeholders to prepare monthly accruals and review P&L variances.
Develop relationships and collaborate across the Finance organization including the Billing, Development Support, Legal, Accounts Receivable, Openings, Corporate Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, Human Resources, Business Operations and other departments to facilitate the proper recording of accounting transactions.
Assist in preparing for quarterly reviews and annual audits by our independent accounting firms.
Assist in the drafting of the footnote support for the quarterly 10-Q ‘s and annual 10-K reports.
Assist with accounting for Choice Bad Debt, Deferred Comp, Group Health, 401K, EDCP, and month-end accruals.
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and internal policies, including updating and adherence to critical controls and participation in testing by internal and external audit staff.
Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of experience in a relevant accounting role, preferably with a mix of corporate and public accounting experience.
Experience with PeopleSoft systems and/or other G/L software systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong analytical skills and in-depth technical knowledge of GAAP.
Individual must be a team player with good interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize, efficiently meet internal and external deadlines, and operate in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
CPA with an active license preferred.

Your Team This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting. You will have a peer teammate in a 12-person Corporate Accounting team and collaborate with cross functional finance and business departments.Your Work LocationAs our Senior Corporate Accountant you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, at least two days each week it is required to be in our North Bethesda, MD office while the remainder of the week will be remote work. You will be required to attend in-person team building and Finance & Accounting team meetings.
