Together, we can build what matters!This position is for a Custom Packaging Technician within the Large Power Systems Division located in our Lafayette, IN facility. This person will be assigned to the 3500/3600 Custom Packaging area but may aid in any assembly area as needed. Responsible for helping maintain a constant engine and package flow through the Custom Packaging area.Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Fabricating/modifying - project specific
Wiring of engines and packages
Plumbing and piping of packages
Laser alignment of engine and generators
Print reading of mechanical and electrical drawings.
Transport parts, engines, and packages in and out of packaging area utilizing:
Forklift – electric stand up and gas/electric sit down– License required
Overhead crane system 50/110 ton – License required
Gas tugger to move engines in and out of packaging area. License required
5s efforts - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area daily, including assisting with required 5s audits.
Assist supervisor in maintaining a high level of quality, understand the areas quality indicators, and assist with running the play to improve the value streams BIQ through ICA’s and PCA’s.
Utilize MESA for work instructions, engine movement, and AQE’s.
Utilize standard work for assembly instructions, assist with updating as changes occur.
Utilize continuous improvement process for PQVC issues in value stream.
Candidate will be required to stay in the section for 12 months with the exception of a promotion.Basic Qualifications:
Candidates must pass 3G welding certification to be considered for the position. (Up hill groove)
Must have welding, plumbing, piping, and fabricating skills.
Must be willing to work planned and unplanned overtime and be willing to work in any other area of ATPS as needed.
Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as directing self while completing very important projects.
Must be able to communicate openly and clearly to team and supporting groups to resolve project issues.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
Must be able to work in heights and confirmed spaces.

Location of this position is in Lafayette, IN
Shift hours: 1st (6:30am-2:30pm)
