Swift Nature Camp is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Caretaker to live on-site in northern Wi. in a lake shore home. Oversee the summer care, repair and maintenance of our small & beautiful Northwoods camp. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who loves the outdoors, values community, and is committed to ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for campers and staff. Camp is a close knit family where respect and encouragement for others is important.This seasonal position can be a year round position if interested. About Swift Nature Camp:
Swift Nature Camp is a co-ed overnight summer camp located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods on a 1500 acre lake. Since its inception, SNC has been dedicated to fostering a love of nature, building lasting friendships, and encouraging personal growth. Our property spans acres of pristine forest, waterfront, and activity areas, making it an inspiring and rewarding place to live and work.
Responsibilities:
As the Camp Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining the camp facilities and ensuring the property is ready for seasonal operations. Key duties include:
- Property Maintenance: Perform routine upkeep of buildings, grounds, and waterfront areas, including mowing, tree trimming, , and minor construction or repairs including electrical and plumbing.
- Equipment Management: Maintain and service camp vehicles, tools, and machinery such as lawnmowers, 4-wheelers, pressure washer and boats.
- Safety and Security: Monitor the property for any safety or security concerns, address hazards, and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Housekeeping and Setup: Prepare cabins, common areas, and activity spaces for seasonal use, including cleaning, repairs, and restocking supplies.
- Communication: Act as the primary on-site contact for contractors, deliveries, and emergencies.
- Seasonal Transition: Assist in winterizing the camp at the end of the season and preparing it for reopening in the spring.
- Camp Presence: Act as an ambassador for Swift Nature Camp by welcoming visitors, supporting camp as needed, and representing camp values.
Qualifications:
- Experience in property management, maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and prioritize tasks.
- A love for nature and comfort in a rural, secluded setting.
- Communication and organizational skills to manage 1 or 2 workers.
- Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks and lift up to 50 pounds.
