$29-$46 per hour based on experiencePosition SummaryThe Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of heavy mobile and stationary equipment used in a steel mill environment. This role supports mill operations by ensuring equipment reliability, operational safety, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The Technician will work on large, off‑road and industrial equipment under demanding conditions where safety, precision, and uptime are critical.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy industrial equipment including wheel loaders, dozers, excavators, cranes, locomotives, material handlers, and support equipmentInspect mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems to identify failures or performance issuesRepair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic components, and electrical systems in accordance with OEM specificationsUtilize technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and service bulletins to perform accurate repairs and modificationsConduct equipment inspections and document maintenance activities in accordance with company proceduresWork safely in active steel‑mill operations, including high‑temperature zones, outdoor environments, and around mobile equipmentComply with all Harsco Environmental, OSHA, MSHA (if applicable), and site‑specific safety regulationsParticipate in safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), and continuous improvement initiativesCollaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtimePerform welding, cutting, and fabrication repairs as required (preferred)
