Job DescriptionThe intern will assist with accessibility projects at the State Historical Building and work related to an exhibit that will open in December 2025.Duties and Essential Activities
Compiling exhibit text to be used for the language audit, exhibit text online, and braille transcriptions
Website accessibility - updating broken links and spelling errors
Partnering with Iowa Dept. for the Blind to use their clear braille printer to add braille to our elevators and vending machines
Audio description tour scripts and recording
Front desk staff support: etiquette sheets, welcoming language examples, professional development resources
Accessible presentation guide for SHSI speakers
Move forward Lauren's work to support autistic visitors via sensory tool kits and social narratives; building a quiet space in the museum

Image research and selection
Biographical research for exhibit features
Physical and Mental RequirementsPursuing a degree in history, education, or related field of study in museum studies or the humanities. Have an interest in education and museums. Must conduct oneself in a mature/professional manner and be able to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
