Specialized experience GS-12: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: providing update briefings to Emergency Operations Center (EOC) personnel; participating in emergency planning conferences with federal, state and local officials; documenting exercise/emergency operations in after action reports/lessons learned. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11). Specialized experience GS-11: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: assisting in the preparation of briefings to update Emergency Operations Center (EOC) personnel; assisting in planning/conducting emergency preparedness education, training, exercises and drills; preparing secure/non secure EOC voice and/or data equipment for use during exercise/emergency conditions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university. Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 hours (total semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at 100% to qualify.
