Job Title:Clinical Pharmacy Specialist-Hematology/Oncology-InpatientDepartment:Pharmacy - InpatientShift:1stFull/Part:Active Regular FT (72 to 80 hours per pay period)Specialty:OncologyJob Number:2020-4123Job Description:We are seeking a dynamic Full - Time Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Hematology/Oncology to join our innovative Inpatient Pharmacy department at Rush University Medical Center !General Summary :The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, Hematology/Oncology covers direct and indirect patient care, education, medication safety, performance improvement, and consultation. The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for the provision of both operational and clinical pharmacy services to a general oncology population for adult patients. Responsibilities will include order verification, discharge counseling, projects, and education of other healthcare professionals. Each individual must display maturity, independence, initiative, and strong verbal communication skills.Position Highlights:Evaluate and verify Epic prescribers' orders for therapeutic appropriateness, proper dosing, optimal dosage form, drug interactions, allergic reactions, route and rate of administration and therapeutic redundancy.

Clarify prescribers' orders, when necessary, through direct and timely contact with prescriber or designated practitioner.

Provide patient-specific pharmacotherapy recommendations and drug information to the medical and nursing staff.

Apply knowledge of RUMC guidelines, protocols, policies, etc. regarding appropriate drug use.

Document clinical interventions through the Epic IVent system.

Use knowledge of dispensing workflows with regard to Pyxis and patient specific order filling, in order to check Epic orders and understand where drug supplies are coming from and to know how to investigate missing medications or misfills.

Attend emergency responses in area of practice.

Uphold departmental, and institutional, policy as appropriate.

Be familiar with technician roles in order to communicate with them as they interact with the decentralized pharmacist role.

Assist with other departmental quality initiatives that may arise during the time of service in the department.

Position Qualifications:PharmD degree required.

Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Illinois

Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Board Certification desirable or expected within 2 years of starting the position; BCOP preferred

Post Graduate Year Two Pharmacy Residency in Oncology preferred or equivalent experience in hospital oncology practice

BLS and ACLS training (may be obtained after hire)

At least one year of hospital pharmacy experience.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be flexible with work schedule.

Dependable attendance and job performance.
