Dental Assistant/Health & Wellness Clerk

Hawaii Job Corps - Maui is currently recruiting for a Dental Assistant/Health & Wellness Clerk. This position reports to the Health & Wellness Director and performing a variety of responsible clerical and administrative duties which require extreme discretion. In addition this position will be preparing patients for dental examination and treatment in a medical office environment, in compliance with government and management directives.

Brief summary of duties include but are not limited to:

Assist dentist in performing services by preparing patients in chair and handling required instruments, equipment and dental plastics.

Sterilize instruments and keep office stocked with required supplies.

Arrange and maintain appointment schedule.

Keep records of patients.

Provide post-operative and oral hygiene instructions as prescribed by the dentist.

Assist in taking patient X-Rays.

Receive telephone calls and visitors; handle routine matters personally and route non-routine business to proper staff for consideration.

Maintain calendar and schedule appointments.

Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; Dental Assistant Certificate preferred

2 years related experience

Understanding of HIPAA laws

Must have strong communications skills

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
