Patient Care Coordinator

Description GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for physician’s overall schedule, to include daily patients and minor surgeries. Responsible for pre-certification of surgeries.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) Schedules patients for surgical procedures, tests, lab work and new patient office appointments. Interviews and verifies patients insurance & accuracy of patient information on file. Completes consent forms. Responsible for all insurance pre-certification for all procedures Follow up with patient after approval or rejection from insurance company. Prepare charts and update patient information for ASC, ER visits, hospital consults & wound care. Review encounters for physician diagnosis codes and ASC chart order. Ensure all Encounter Tickets are accounted for and submitted to Billing Dept for posting. Call to remind new patients of appointments and minor surgeries. Mail out inquiry packets, new patient paperwork & office correspondence as needed. Handles all correspondence and schedules appointments and meetings for physician. Prepare and review charts for satellite offices. Acts as a liaison between physician, nurses and patients. Responsible for coordinating physician’s dictation with the transcriptionist. Ensure all notes are accounted for, filed in chart. Files all surgical notes, reports and photos in charts. Maintains patient confidentiality. Covers for other schedulers when necessary. As back up -complete Cosmetic Estimate, review with patients. Review payment options with patients and collect all surgical monies prior to surgery. Responsible for entering, updating Inform Software data and mailing packets.
