Payroll Director

Description Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an experienced Interim Payroll Director to oversee our client's payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Workday Payroll and Kronos systems, along with a strong background in payroll management and compliance. This role requires excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex payroll processes efficiently.Responsibilities:Payroll Management:

Oversee all aspects of payroll processing, including data entry, payroll adjustments, and payroll tax compliance.

Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing to meet established deadlines.

Review and approve payroll batches and reconciliations.

System Administration:

Utilize expertise in Workday Payroll and Kronos systems to optimize payroll processes and resolve any system-related issues.

Collaborate with IT and HR teams to implement system updates and enhancements as needed.

Provide training and support to payroll staff on system functionalities and best practices.

Compliance and Reporting:

Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and other required reports accurately and on time.

Conduct regular audits to verify payroll data integrity and compliance with internal policies and procedures.

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and mentor the payroll team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to ensure team success.

Delegate tasks effectively and manage workload distribution to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline payroll operations.

Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.

Proactively address any issues or challenges that may arise during the payroll process.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management.

Proficiency in Workday Payroll and Kronos systems is required.

Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

Proven leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
