The team is responsible for supporting highly performant systems that deliver AT&T’s customer and front-line experiences, across multiple internet-facing eCommerce applications, databases, platforms and technology stacks. Our customer-journey centric Ops team is made up of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) and Release Managers who are all focused on ensuring a highly available, resilient, performant and secure customer experience.About the JobThis position is critical for managing and directing onshore and offshore employee & vendor teams performing Release Management responsibilities for AT&T's customer-facing experiences. In addition to leading a Release Management team for on-premise and Cloud infrastructure for mission critical initiatives, this position is also responsible for driving Release Management practices and capabilities, as well as evolving the team with the required skills and domain expertise.The Director of Release Management is a key member of the Operations leadership team and will be part of a diverse and collaborative organization with critical responsibilities to deliver software release to AT&T's customers and front-line employees. As a Director, this position will lead the Release Management team, playing a meaningful role in the modernization of how we ensure releases are managed and changes are implemented in a continuous manner. This role provides unique growth opportunity to utilize experience, communication and problem-solving skills to transform and advance some of AT&T's most critical customer and agent experiences. The Release Management team led by this position will drive the governance of changes and releases as well as leveraging newer technology and practices to ensure strong controls are in place that enable AT&T to move faster with better quality.The Director will also create, maintains and tracks Release KPI's and identify controls to measure team effectiveness and adherence to best practices and builds reports to senior management team to provide transparency. This position requires compelling team leadership of direct and indirect reports and a professional, collaborative approach with vendor-partners to ensure accountability and performance.The ideal candidate is a highly organized self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, often ambiguous and rapidly changing environment. This position requires a steadfast execution mindset, exceptional communication and collaboration skills and the ability to collaborate in a demanding environment while maintaining a composed, professional demeanor. A high degree of ownership, initiative, interaction and teamwork is required to be effective in the role.Responsibilities and Day-to-Day View

Manage a team of Release Managers & coordinate Release teams that deliver Weekly and Bi-Weekly release of capabilities for our customers and front-line employees, across 100+ Product/Application teams

Drive release issue mitigation and resolution.

Lead the modernization of AT&T's Release process with built-in controls to enable a more seamless and automated way of continuously moving high-quality software changes into production

Collaborating with Dev, Ops and Release engineers on pipeline management and adoption

Driving regular Release Retrospectives, as a key leader in the Release governance function

Maintain strong operational controls around change management, while working on reducing the time teams spend on Release calls

Influence and drive roadmap for engineering teams to adopt more automated deployment processes that allows them to increase their change implementation velocity while safeguarding impacts to the customer experience using feature flags.

Develop, communicate and continually update Release Management processes and detailed documentation based on industry best practices

Strong people leadership is needed to help shepherd the Release Management and product teams through improvements in Release processes

Responsible for ensuring success through the eyes of customers and employees

Execute relentlessly against the company strategy.

Drive a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.

QualificationsA candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competencies.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience

10+ years of demonstrated leadership experience building cross-organizational consensus

10+ years demonstrated experience building and managing high-performing teams

10+ years of demonstrated experience managing teams responsible for Release Management

Demonstrated success developing and deploying Release processes for delivery of digital products to employees and customers

Strong communication skills and ability to meet with clients, present to senior management and provide updates to leadership

Ability to work across teams to build partnerships that achieve organization goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture

Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills are key to be successful in this role

Proven track record of leading change and release functions

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate technology concepts to IT as well as Business Management

Expertise with Software Development Life Cycle management & Lean Agile

Familiarity with Software & Infrastructure design standards for modular, secure and resilient applications to enable driving root cause analysis across the breadth of the organization

Identify and implement efficiencies and improvements to Release Management processes and procedures

Strong Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and code Branch Management strategies to effectively lead software releases

Our Director - Technology earn between $171,000 - $287,200. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers.
