Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting and finance department in daily, monthly, and annual financial reporting and general accounting tasks. This role will help ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with all financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to learn and grow within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
General Ledger Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance of the general ledger, including posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and managing month-end and year-end close processes.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
Budget and Forecasting Assistance: Support the development and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and financial performance against budget.
Expense Management: Review and record business expenses and verify documentation.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations, supporting audits as needed.
Ad Hoc Analysis and Reporting: Provide financial analysis and reporting for special projects as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in an accounting role; experience in a corporate or public accounting environment preferred.
Skills:
o Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
o Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
o Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
o Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
o Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or in the process of obtaining CPA certification.
Experience with ERP systems or large accounting software platforms.
Familiarity with financial reporting and compliance requirements for [specific industry, if applicable].
