Experienced Outboard Engine Mechanic candidates must be able to: identify, diagnose and repair two and four stroke outboard engines and boat systems which include electrical systems, plumbing and rigging.

Qualified candidates will communicate with service advisors and the parts department throughout the repair process to assist in the establishment of a proper written estimate/work order.

Certifications in Yamaha engine repair and maintenance a plus.

This is a full-time position with potential overtime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds

Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment

Install and test sanitation, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories

Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components

Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required

Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems

Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, electronics, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), and gas engines

Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets

Must possess own tools

Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines

TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Technical school training preferred

Prior experience preferred

Ability to ascend and descend a ladder

Must carry own tools

Ability to work in confined spaces

Ability to lift 50 pounds

Basic boat handling skills preferred

Clean driver’s license

MINIMUM SOFT SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers' needs

Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context

Organizational skills are a must

Demonstrates ability to prioritize and work unsupervised
