For a position that involves dealing with DMV title work, vehicle title disputes, storage liens, maritime liens, and dealership issues, the attorney would need a diverse set of legal skills and knowledge spanning several areas of law. Here are some of the relevant legal fields and expertise that would be beneficial for this position:

1. Real Estate and Property Law

Understanding the fundamentals of property law is crucial, especially as it pertains to the ownership, transfer, and encumbrance of property rights. For vehicle titles, this includes knowledge of how titles work, how liens affect property rights, and the process for clearing titles.

2. Contract Law

Many disputes in this field arise from contractual issues, such as those between buyers and sellers, dealerships, and finance companies. Knowledge of contract formation, performance, breach, and remedies is essential.

3. Commercial Law

This area, particularly the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), is relevant for understanding secured transactions, including the attachment and perfection of security interests, which are often at play in vehicle financing and liens.

4. Consumer Protection Law

Laws designed to protect buyers from unfair business practices, deceptive advertising, and fraud are central to resolving many dealership and vehicle purchase issues. Familiarity with state and federal consumer protection statutes is necessary.

5. Maritime Law

For positions dealing with maritime liens and disputes related to vessel ownership and financing, knowledge of maritime law, which governs activities and property on navigable waters, is crucial.

6. Bankruptcy Law

Understanding how bankruptcy proceedings can impact the ability to enforce liens or recover debts is important, especially in storage lien situations where the property owner may declare bankruptcy.

7. Civil Litigation

Experience with the litigation process, including filing lawsuits, discovery, trial preparation, and trial, as well as alternative dispute resolution mechanisms like arbitration and mediation, is important for any legal position that may involve court proceedings.

8. Administrative Law

Knowledge of the procedures and regulations governing state DMV practices and licensing boards for dealerships is necessary for navigating administrative processes related to vehicle titles and dealer operations.

9. Insurance Law

Understanding the principles of insurance law is relevant, especially when dealing with surety bonds and insurance claims that may arise in the context of dealership issues and vehicle transactions.

Proficiency in e-filing systems and processes.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation:

Competitive flat rate per case review and sign-off.

Additional compensation available for cases that require trial representation.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, cover letter, and a brief writing sample demonstrating their expertise in the various types of law mentioned above. Please include “Contract Attorney Application” in the subject line.
