Florida, Orlando, 32801 Orlando USAJob Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of manual labor tasks on construction sites, including building, repairing, and maintaining structures and facilities. This role involves working with various materials, tools, and equipment, as well as following safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Preparation and Cleanup:
Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and setting up scaffolding and other temporary structures.
Assist in the demolition of old structures, ensuring safe and efficient removal of materials.
Perform site cleanup tasks, including removing waste and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Material Handling:
Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and storage areas.
Distribute materials to appropriate locations on the site, ensuring they are readily available for use.
Assist in the assembly and disassembly of temporary structures, such as scaffolding and barricades.
Construction Activities:
Perform basic construction tasks, including measuring, cutting, and assembling materials according to specifications.
Assist skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters, masons, electricians, and plumbers, by providing labor support and operating tools and equipment.
Mix and pour concrete, lay bricks, and install structural components as directed by supervisors.
Tool and Equipment Operation:
Operate and maintain construction tools and equipment, such as drills, saws, jackhammers, and power tools.
Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and correctly, following manufacturer guidelines and site protocols.
Report any malfunctioning company tools or equipment to supervisors for repair or replacement.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site regulations.
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices and potential hazards.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other construction workers, supervisors, and tradespeople to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clear understanding of tasks and responsibilities.
Assist in problem-solving on-site, addressing issues as they arise.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not required.
Experience with carpentry, framing, drywall and basic plumbing in preferred.
Familiarity with basic construction tools, techniques and terminology is an advantage.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Skills:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
Basic understanding of construction processes and materials.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow instructions.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Certifications:
OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is a plus.
Any relevant trade certifications are advantageous.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Must be able to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and operating tools and equipment.
Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, as required by project demands.
