The Accounting Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the finance department by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accuracy in all financial transactions. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a basic understanding of accounting principles. Key Responsibilities: Data Entry and Record Keeping: Input financial data into accounting software accurately and efficiently (QuickBooks). Maintain and update financial records, including invoices, receipts, and bank statements. Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments, always following SOPs. Verify accuracy of invoices and resolve discrepancies with vendors. Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with company records. Reconcile credit card transactions, 3-way matching. Assist in monthly and year-end closing processes. Financial Reporting: Assist with preparing financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets. Assist in preparing documentation for audits and financial reviews. General Administrative Support: Provide support to the accounting team in various projects and tasks as needed. Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions. Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures. Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications: Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role is preferred. Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) is a plus. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge: Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices. Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
