JOB DESCRIPTION

- Make repairs, perform maintenance, and weld rail cars and parts

- Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements

- Includes experimental welders who analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable

- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt, or grind spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and creates a welded final product

- Weld spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc.

- Controls the processes of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat, distortion, expansion or shrink of spare parts

- Arrange and assure the welded parts are arranged in order before being assembled into final products, using such tools as a square, caliper or ruler

- Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment

- Ignites flame or strikes an arc while welding or performing electricity-related work to weld part of a metal structure.

- Examines finished products and spare parts, comparing them with samples to verify whether the specifications are met

- Operates accessory equipment and performs tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs

- Supervises and identifies any fault in operating equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, then notifies the supervisors

- Operates safely and applies safety practices at work while performing duties.

SCHEDULE & PAY

- Monday - Friday

- 6am - 4pm

- $20 - $28 DOE
