We are building a culture where everyone can thrive by owning and driving exceptional results, being humble and leading with trust, serving our customers with excellence, and collaborating and coaching to win.Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned Norfolk Southern served Intermodal and Automotive facilities in a manner that supports smart growth.Principal DutiesIntermodal & Automotive Operations Managers collaborates with all the groups within the Intermodal & Automotive department to provide high quality customer experience, support the commercial and operating strategies, and gain competitive advantage through technology-led proactive customer engagement, and efficient terminal, equipment, and specialized services

Oversees all daily terminals to include shift/daily planning, property management, and safety & process audits

Analyzes terminal metrics, evaluates downstream affects, and formulates a proactive prioritization strategy

Engages with local stakeholders in order to execute exception management strategy

Influences terminal development decisions by making data driven recommendations regarding capital projects and expenses

Analyzes real-time data on crucial movements to inform impacted partners across the network

Effectively guides and negotiates with external business partners (i.e. port point of contact, maintenance vendors, drayage partners) and internal customers (i.e. field operations & police)

Demonstrates broader view of customers base and manages appropriately

Analyzes tactical capacity inventory management and makes strategic recommendations

Manages contractor relationship to ensure standards and goals are met

Coordinates operation activities to support marketing strategies in all terminal markets

Enforces safety & environmental adherence policies across the terminal

Takes an active role in ensuring proper utilization of technological resources on assigned terminals, to include providing feedback for enhancements and functionality required to improve operations and service

Spends extensive time in the field, coaching, challenging and mentoring team members as they tackle day-to-day challenges – peers, subordinates, and vendors

Job Related Experience:Minimum Level: 2-3 years Preferred Level: 4-6 yearsEducation:Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS, MBA)Technical Skills:
