Automotive Mechanic (Certified)
District of Columbia, Washington 00000 Washington USAFX Collision Center is seeking a skilled and certified Automotive Mechanic to join our growing team in Lorton, Virginia. Candidate must be a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering quality automotive repairs and maintenance while upholding high standards of workmanship, safety, and efficiency.
This role requires current automotive certification and the ability to accurately diagnose and repair modern vehicle systems. We are looking for a technician who is reliable, productive, and committed to doing the job right the first time.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Diagnostics & Repairs
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using professional diagnostic tools
Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust, and drivability systems
Address warning lights, performance concerns, and customer complaints accurately
Maintenance Services
Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, inspections, fluid services, and filter replacements
Identify safety concerns and recommend necessary repairs or preventative maintenance
Electrical & Advanced Systems
Diagnose and repair electrical systems including batteries, alternators, starters, sensors, and wiring
Utilize scan tools and diagnostic software effectively
Perform ADAS diagnostics and calibrations
Quality Control & Safety
Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards
Test-drive vehicles before and after repairs
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Communication & Documentation
Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, labor times, and parts used
Communicate findings and repair recommendations clearly with service advisors or management
Maintain detailed and accurate repair orders
Required Qualifications:
Automotive certification REQUIRED (ASE Certification – A Series preferred)
Minimum 3+ years of professional automotive repair experience
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Ability to work independently and
as part of a team
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
