Custom Cabinet Shop Estimator and Project Manager
District of Columbia, Washington 00000 Washington USAWe are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Estimator and Project Manager for our custom cabinet shop. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, budgeting, and execution of custom cabinetry projects. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of construction principles, and a keen eye for detail. The Estimator and Project Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate job estimates, managing project timelines, coordinating with clients, suppliers, and team members, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
1. Estimating and Budgeting
-Review project specifications, blueprints, and client requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates.
-Calculate material, labor, and production costs based on project scope and design specifications.
-Prepare and submit estimates and proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns.
-Collaborate with suppliers to obtain quotes on materials and negotiate pricing as needed.
-Update and adjust estimates as project scope changes.
2. Project Management
-Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.
-Develop and manage project schedules, coordinating production timelines, material deliveries, and on-site installations.
-Track project progress to ensure adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
-Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, take measurements, and ensure installation readiness.
-Oversee the work of craftsmen and installers to maintain high standards of quality.
3.Coordination and Collaboration
-Coordinate with design teams, shop craftsmen, and installation crews to ensure accurate interpretation of plans.
-Communicate changes and updates to all stakeholders, ensuring project adjustments are implemented smoothly.
-Resolve any issues that arise during production and installation, taking proactive steps to prevent delays.
-Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to streamline project execution.
4. Documentation and Reporting
-Maintain organized project documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
-Provide regular project status updates to clients and management.
-Track and analyze project expenses, ensuring alignment with budget forecasts.
-Prepare post-project reports, identifying any areas for improvement or cost savings.
Qualifications:
-Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating and project management within a custom cabinetry, millwork, or woodworking environment.
-Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software, estimating software, and project management tools.
-Knowledge: Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, materials, and production processes.
-Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
-Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
