Student Worker Program - Chassis Engineer

Immerse yourself in Ford's center of innovation and growth, working alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to create groundbreaking EVs and contribute to key technologies like batteries, charging, and recycling. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact on the automotive industryThis is a 6 month programWhat you’ll be able to do:
Design and develop suspension and steering concepts that improve product cost, mass, efficiency, manufacturability, serviceability, and driving dynamics.
Assess and validate cost, manufacturing, assembly, service feasibility of design proposals.
Challenge existing design requirements and define new design requirements for system sizing, functions, and features based on regulations, first principles, and product attributes.
Design, analyze, build, and test prototypes at component, subsystem, and full vehicle level.
Author engineering data for chassis systems in 3D CAD and Product Lifecycle Management Tools.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and document project progress, timelines, data in Atlassian and Microsoft productivity suites.
The minimum requirements we seek:
Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
Strong engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply broadly to vehicle systems and manufacturing processes
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment
CAD proficiency in assembly and part design, FEA, and 2D drawings.
Our preferred requirements:
Prior internship or student project experience in automotive or related field
Experience designing and analyzing mechanical components in 3D CAD
Experience fabricating and manufacturing mechanical components
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong proficiency in Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA)
