Design of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems within the built environment, with an emphasis on sustainable design
Support designing plumbing systems such as domestic water, sanitary/vent, and storm systems.
Support designing fire protection systems fire sprinkler and standpipe systems.
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for complex buildings
Undertaking and documenting engineering analysis work, including code research, load calculations, and equipment sizing, in a clear manner.
Document system design in Revit MEP
Communicate technical ideas to a broad range of audiences using various formats, including presentations and workshops
Write reports documenting calculation methods and results, design assumptions, and other technical information
The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our changing environment
Influence with design on sustainable outcome for our clients to align with Arup sustainability commitment.
Assisting in construction administration activities such as site visits and submittal reviews.
Participating in local professional associations
The skills
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, architectural, civil, or environmental engineering.
2 or more years of professional work experience in designing plumbing and fire protection systems
Experience with 3D BIM software such as Revit MEP
Shown interest in the built environment and sustainable development
Ability to collaborate with clients
Good time management habits, ability to multi-task, ability to sustain focus on long tasks
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity
Ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our changing environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed for team-based working
Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future.
Preferred
FE desired, Ideal candidate will have or be working towards PE
Membership in ASPE, ASSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, or SFPE.
Courses in sustainability or USGBC participation
Shown ability to perform in a paid work environment with intermittent supervision
Past history of technical presentations and technical writing
Computer programming languages (e.g., Dynamo, Python, Grasshopper)
