Job DescriptionWork ArrangementThis role is based remotely, but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Pontiac, Milford or Mountain View, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.The RoleThe Communications team at General Motors focuses on impact and driving transformation through storytelling. It is home to the company’s Employee Engagement, Vehicle Brand, Corporate, Tech & Innovation, and International Communications teams. We are searching for a Director of Leadership Communications and Operations, GM Global Markets, to support communications strategies and execution for enterprise-wide communications across GM’s global markets.This person will have a deep understanding of global markets and the internal and external comms landscapes, to be able to drive change management and 360-degree comms campaigns that span both.They’ll be a strong stakeholder manager and consultant, able to give strategic counsel to our most senior leaders to elevate their brands, while being results-led and ensuring we deliver maximum impact for the business.They will also support comms strategy, operations and collaboration across the global markets teams, ensuring processes and tools are launched effectively and run smoothly.What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Develop and execute a comprehensive leadership, corporate and internal communications strategy for the President of GM Global Markets aligned with GM’s goals and objectives, focused on internal engagement, social media and global markets media.
Partner closely with communications leaders and executives to understand their priorities and craft impactful messages that resonate with target audiences.
Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
Act as a trusted advisor to executives on communications matters
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
Draft narratives, speeches, presentations, taking points, social posts, gold source documents and other comms assets for executive use.
Build and leverage external communications networks to clearly communicate company initiatives to external audiences.
Contribute to the production of high-quality content for internal and external comms channels, including social media and company website.
Support Communication Strategy & Operations, including the development, launch and maintenance of new programs and tools that support the global markets Communications teams.
Drive sharing of communications best practice and communications assets with teams across the globe
Support global markets to track team performance.
Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree
10+ years professional experience in internal and/or external communications.
Incredible written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with senior executives.
Excellent project management skills
Tenured experience with large, complex organizational change management and the development and execution of communications strategy with proven results
Ability to synthesize complex information into simple communications
Ability to see the bigger picture of what needs to be done, remain unflappable under pressure, and stay nimble if change is needed.
Digital and social media content development and publishing
Data and measurement
Desire to inspire and align teams through highly engaging communications and educational programs.
Compensation:
The expected base compensation for this role is $108,400 - $169,600 USD Annually.
Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
