System Administrator

Description Position Summary:The Senior Systems Administrator, on a contract basis, will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization's IT systems, servers, and network infrastructure. This role will focus on optimizing system performance, implementing security measures, and collaborating with other IT professionals to support the organization's IT needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, hands-on experience with system administration, and the ability to work independently to meet project deadlines.Key Responsibilities:1.System Administration:

Administer and maintain servers, operating systems, and associated hardware and software.

Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure systems are current and secure.

2.Security Management:

Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to protect the organization's systems and data.

Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities promptly.

3.Network Support:

Collaborate with network administrators to ensure seamless integration between systems and network infrastructure.

Troubleshoot network-related issues and assist in network optimization efforts.

4.Backup and Disaster Recovery:

Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data and systems.

Test and validate backup and recovery procedures regularly.

5.Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.

6.Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with IT team members and other departments to provide technical support and resolve system-related issues.

Communicate technical information and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

7.Project Support:

Assist in planning and executing IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and implementations.

8.Performance Optimization:

Monitor system performance and make recommendations for improvements and optimizations.

Conduct capacity planning to ensure systems meet current and future requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in a senior or lead role.

Strong knowledge of Windows server administration.

Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.

Knowledge of security best practices and tools.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
