Title: Cloud Data Engineer

Location: Remote for now then Enfield, CT

Duration: 6+ Months Contract

Job Summary:

The purpose of this job is to provide solutions in direct support of client’s data strategy. Developing in tools in AWS, and on-premises data stores, deliver high quality, efficient and performant data patterns for consumption by various data warehouses, marts and BI environments. Proficiency in Python, ETL methodologies, SQL and Big Data solutions is critical for success.

Essential Requirements: AWS tech stack (handling ETL job setup by creating metadata records in DynamoDB, AWS lambdas, step functions, SQL query, JSON output). Ideally, they would have experience with CI/CD in AWS too, using Jenkins, troubleshooting AWS lambda and step function failure.

Requirements:

  • 3 - 6 years of software development experience preferably in a Data related field
  • Proficiency in ETL development and design using Python, Big Data (Hadoop/SPARK)
  • Strong SQL knowledge, RDBMS experience on any recognized database (Aurora, MySQL, Postgress, Redshift, Aurora)
  • Experience on the AWS platform
  • In depth understanding of dimensional model and ER designs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and Agile Methodology
  • Exposure to Data Warehouse principles
  • Collaborates with colleagues regarding development best practices and/or data application issues
  • Advises and works on strategic initiatives to mitigate and/or alleviate core data application issues, including opportunities for process automation
  • Operates independently with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. Completes other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (Information Systems, Mathematics, Software Engineering)

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years programming experience in data environments
  • 2 years IT in financial or other highly regulated industry
  • 2 years PL/SQL or T-SQL including triggers, functions, procedures, and views
  • Use of JIRA in Agile development
  • 2 years providing technical support of an enterprise software system in a customer-facing role
