CDHSCareers About the Grand Junction Regional Center: This position resides at the Grand Junction Regional Center. This regional center exists to manage the day-to-day operations and service delivery for Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC), licensed as an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities as well as a provider of Home and Community Based Services (Waiver services). GJRC provides 24/7 direct care for approximately 80 residents. GJRC's primary goal is to provide the necessary supports and services to residents who cannot be safely served in community based programs due to complex medical and/or behavioral needs. Description of JobAbout the Position:This position is to provide oversight, crisis intervention, active treatment, and evaluation to ensure the physical safety and security of the persons served at GJRC, its staff members, its property, and others. This position also provides training to the staff to teach them to provide a safe and secure environment and acts as a work lead/supervisor for the team of Clinical Security/Safety Officers. This position is considered an essential position classification and requires the ability to work any shift, any schedule, and any location assigned. Duties in this position include:Safety Checks/ House Monitoring:
monitors safety and security for 4 ICF (Intermediate Care Facility) homes and 7 HCBS Waiver homes for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and 1 day program location in the community
completes daily documentation of safety checks for all areas assigned, including entering into databases and emailing to the safety team
notifies appropriate team members or agency personnel when observations are made that conflict with or are counter-productive to the treatment plan
works collaboratively with Quality Assurance in reporting incidents that are observed as such
must drive to numerous sites daily, as described in the monitoring of the properties, staff and individuals
observes documentation at the work sites to ensure timeliness and accuracy of recording bed checks, treatment plans, medications, key check-out and other documentation as necessary
Crisis Intervention:
responds promptly to individuals in crisis
assists in physical redirection; performs Safety Care maneuvers for individuals that need to be physically restrained, utilizing the least restrictive measures possible
assists in searching for individuals who have gone AWOL and returning them safely to the facility or transporting to/from hospital, correctional facility, etc
searching the facility for dangerous objects, contraband, weapons, etc. and removing/storing safely when needed
utilizing practices in order to redirect an aggressive individual and to maintain a safe and orderly environment; ensuring the environment is safe so that aggressive individuals and agency staff are free from harm
occasional interfacing with law enforcement regarding individuals when needed
provides clinical support for residents' individual behavioral programs
makes recommendations to the teams regarding individual behavior program development
Other Duties as Assigned:
performs minor maintenance tasks; assists with agency projects; assists in agency or individual moves; develops and/or maintains databases for the department needs
works collaboratively with other agency departments to provide coverage or assistance as needed
other duties as required for business needs.
