Description Robert Half is seeking an experienced Controller to join a small but reputable organization Colorado Springs. As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit or public accounting, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller. The Controller will be responsible for supervising a team of 4 staff members, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, month-end close processes, and assisting with audits. Responsibilities:

Supervise and manage a team of 4 accounting staff members.

Review and approve financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets.

Perform variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.

Coordinate and oversee month-end close processes, including reconciliations and accruals.

Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual audits, providing documentation and support as needed.

Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure data integrity.

Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in non-profit or public accounting.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller in a non-profit or public accounting environment.

Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards.

Experience supervising and managing a team of accounting professionals.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

Commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in handling financial information.
