Payroll Accountant

Seeking a skilled Payroll Accountant who will work independently and under the direction of the Assistant Controller.  The candidate must have at least 5yrs of progressive payroll experience with a medium or large company, 2 yrs minimum experience processing payroll for 200+ employees, experience working in a large ERP system, experience working with a large payroll service provider; such as Paycom and ADP, understand compliance of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, and be able to perform general ledger account reconciliations.   The candidate must have good organizational skills, be able to manage multiple deadlines, communicate effectively, and maintain productive working relationships.  The ability to think critically, analyze problems, and propose solutions is required.Essential ResponsibilitiesWeekly timecard processingBi-weekly payroll processingPayroll reporting, filings, and taxesProcess compensation and benefit changesGarnishments and TaxesProcessing labor transfersComplete general ledger (GL) account reconciliationsCompliance assuranceResearching and resolving payroll discrepanciesAudit support and internal controlsMaintain payroll records and process documentationPoint of contact for all payroll related mattersFunction as a back-up for other accounting tasks.Works collaboratively with HRCore CompetenciesTakes ownership for all work activities and personal actions.
