Shop assistant needed. Our company is called Greyscape Studio, and although we primarily do custom fabrication of concrete counter-tops and other architectural elements (sinks, wall panels, fireplace hearths etc.), prior experience with concrete is not required as this type of work is very different from traditional flatwork, and much of the work is more akin to trim carpentry and cabinetmaking than it is to pouring a patio.

To do well in this role you should be physically fit, reliable, and be a hard worker.

This is a great opportunity for someone that enjoys working with their hands, loves attention to detail, likes building/creating things and wants to grow in a small, but growing company with a long-term career. We are located in Boulder.

The most important attributes of a good Shop Assistant are the ability to become proficient in and operate tools in a precise and safe manner, to always be learning and improving, be physically fit, to be able to ignore your phone while at work, and since we are a small shop, you should be easy to get along with.

Work hours can vary, but they are typically from M-F 9:00 am until 3:00-6:00pm, and on rare occasions, weekends (although we try to keep to avoid that whenever possible). A typical work week is 30-40 hours.

Apply for this position if:

You love working both your hands.

You are always learning and improving.

You are physically fit and are capable of lifting 150 lbs.

You have a general understanding of working with power tools and a some basic woodworking experience.

You are on-time, and willing to stay until the job is done.

You have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and a valid drivers license.

Other helpful, but not required skills would include finish carpentry/fine woodworking, welding.

Starting compensation is $22-28/hr depending on experience with opportunity for rapid raises during the first 6 months as you become more proficient.

This type of work can be VERY dusty and dirty. Concrete is messy, but it is very satisfying to turn a bunch of raw materials into something architecturally beautiful that elicits the kinds of grateful reactions we get from our clients. Here’s a link to our website if you want to have a look at the type of things we make. http://www.greyscapestudio.com/

To apply please email your resume or detailed work history along with a brief email describing why you are a good candidate for this position. Also, please use the phrase "Concrete Professional" in the subject line of your email, this helps me sort out the spammers from those that actually read the entire posting. Do not apply in person as we are not always in the shop. We will reach out within 24-48 hours to schedule an interview with applicants who are a good fit . We are looking to fill the position immediately.
