Position Summary
As a member of Shining Mountain Waldorf School, the Accompanist is responsible for accompanying the Eurythmy and Choir classes of elementary, middle, and high school students. Eurythmy is taught as an art of movement and is integral to the Waldorf curriculum.
Job Responsibilities:
Meeting with the Eurythmy teacher to discuss and explore repertoire.
Accompany students for performances at concerts, festivals, and special events throughout the academic year
Skills:
Collaboration with Music and other faculty on curriculum and performances.
Communicate effectively with students and colleagues
Draw on musical background in order to sight read and improvise
Qualification/Training Requirements:
Music education or performance
Experience in working in classroom settings desirable
Accompanying or exposure to movement classes
Willingness to learn about Waldorf education and incorporate Waldorf principles of child development into playing
Hours:
This is a part-time hourly position during the school year and school calendar
16 weekly lessons for grades 1-8 (45 minutes classes)
2 weekly lessons for grades 9-12 (50 minutes classes, offered 1 or 2 quarters)
1 weekly prep period with Eurythmy Teacher (45 minutes)
May include evening events and performances
Eurythmy lessons take place five days a week during the school year
24/25 class schedule will be available in July/August
Salary and Benefits
Hourly rate of $31.00 per hour for accompanying - (classes are 40-45 minutes)
Hourly rate of $18.00 per hour when participating in meetings and trainings
Colorado Paid Sick Leave - 1 hour for each 30 hours worked - up to 48 hours per year
Annual increases are based on annual compensation approval
This is a part time position - no additional benefits are offered at this time
