You will make decisions that impact the way we build our products, creating even better experiences for our customers.Key job responsibilitiesDefine key research directions, adopting or inventing new machine learning techniquesConduct rigorous experiments, publishing results, and ensuring that research is applied.Develop long-term strategies, influencing teams to adopt those strategies, propose goals and deliver on them.Participate in organizational planning, hiring, mentorship and leadership development.Be technically fearless, with a passion for building scalable science and engineering solutions.Act as a key scientific resource in full-cycle development (conception, design, implementation, testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance).We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Sunnyvale, CA, USABasic QualificationsPhD with specialization in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computer science 10+ years of combined academic and research experience.Create novel machine learning algorithms.Define scalable models.Invent the next generation of approaches.Excellent publication record in top-tier journals and conferences.Mentor and train the science communityExperience developing software in traditional programming languages (C, Java, etc).Excellent written and spoken communication skillsPreferred Qualifications10+ years of experience building and deploying innovative machine learning solutions at scale.Expert level skills across numerous Machine Learning methodologies.Published research work in top-tier conferences or industry circles.Experience delivering complex end-to-end ML solutions that run at very large scale.Excellent business judgment; balances business, product, and technology very well.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
